Why do we need surface treatment?

For metal materials, metals are prone to oxidation, rust and corrosion when exposed to air and various environmental media for a long time. After surface treatments, a protective layer can be formed on the metal surface, which significantly improves its corrosion resistance and ensures the stability and reliability of metal products in harsh environments. For plastic materials, it can make the plastic surface smooth, flat and beautiful, improving the appearance quality and market competitiveness of the product.


The surface treatment services that Chongchang's professional team can customize include: anodizing, powder coating, grinding, painting, electroplating, passivation, polishing, brushing, sandblasting, silk-screen, laser engraving, electrophoresis, dyeing, BLK anode, CD texture, etching, high-gloss chamfering, shot peening and other processes.


Anodizing: Applicable material Aluminium. It can be processed according to the color plate you provide or any RAL code or Pantone number. The thickness of the oxide layer is 4 - 8 μm (clear), 8 - 12 μm (color)

Powder Coating: Applicable material Aluminium, Steel, Stainless Steel,ABS.It can be made in Black or any RAL code or Pantone number color, and its thickness is 50-150μm.

Sanding: Smooth sanding can remove machining marks, burrs, machine lines, and adhesive marks on the surface of the parts. The flatness of the part will be improved and roughness will be reduced to create a smooth and uniform look.

Painting: Painting is a surface coating process which atomizes the paint via the spraying equipment. Many kinds of coatings could be achieved by using the spraying coat technology. Such as coatings with wear resistance, corrosion resistance, heat insulation, electrical conductivity, insulation, sealing, lubrication and other special mechanical physical and chemical properties.

Chroming &Plating (Galvanized, Gilded, Silvering): Plating is uses electrolysis to attach a metal film to the surface of metal or other materials to prevent metal oxidation (such as rust), improve wear resistance, con-ductivity, reflectivity, and corrosion resistance (copper sulfate, etc.), and enhance beauty.

Passivation: Passivation is the process which make the surface of metal inactive through oxidizing metals by strong oxidants or electrochemical methods.This method make the metal surface difficult to be oxidized, and delay the corrosion rate of the metal.Usually, the passivation finish is applied to iron and stainless steel parts.

Polishing: Polishing can not improve the dimensional accuracy or geometric accuracy of the workpiece, but for the purpose of obtaining a smooth surface or mirror gloss. Sometimes, polishing will also be used to eliminate gloss (matting).

Brushing: The wire drawing finishing process is a surface treatment method, that forms a line pattern on the surface of the workpiece by polishing, the product to achieve a decorative effect.

Teflon Coating: Teflon coating is the process which uses Teflon (polytetrafluoroethylene) or PTFE to spray the metal surface. This process can increase related characteristics, such as acid and alkali resistance, weather resistance and corrosion resistance etc.

01 Shape and Complexity of Parts

For simple linear shapes and regular geometric figures, shearing machines can be used first for blanking; for complex curves, special-shaped holes or special shapes, laser cutting or CNC punching is more suitable.

02 Type and Thickness of Material

For thinner sheets (usually less than 3mm), laser cutting can provide high precision and good cutting quality; for thicker sheets (larger than 6mm), plasma cutting or flame cutting may be more effective.

03 Required Quantity

For mass production of special stamping molds, CNC punching machines are more efficient and cost-effective; for small batch or single-piece production, the flexibility of laser cutting or simple molds is more advantageous.

04 Accuracy Requirements

High-precision requirements (such as tolerance within ±0.1mm), laser cutting and CNC bending can usually meet the requirements. General accuracy requirements: ordinary shearing and bending equipment is sufficient.

05 Value Selection

From the perspective of your cost, if general accuracy requirements are required: ordinary shearing and bending equipment will suffice. High quality and precision requirements and sufficient budget: Priority will be given to advanced laser cutting and CNC equipment.

06 Surface Quality Requirements

The surface is required to be smooth and burr-free: the surface quality after laser cutting is usually better.

07 Common Materials

SUS200 series, SUS300 series, SUS400 series, 410, 420, 430, SQCC, SGCD, SACE, SPCC, SECC, SPHC, AL, tinplate, brass, etc.

08 Compatibility of Subsequent Processes

If subsequent welding is required, the influence of the shape and quality of the cut on welding should be considered when selecting the cutting process.

For urgent delivery, choose a process with fast processing speed and short preparation time.
